HABITT
Habitt is not just another activity tracker app, also providing users with different ways to enhance their knowledge on habits they track alongside supplying users with a Help & Healing Centre. In addition to a store and profile for increased personalisation. The information displayed within the H&H Centre being sourced from reputable experts. Research implies that users would benefit from this support function.
As part of an ethics-based university module, Habitt focuses on ensuring both the physical and mental health of users is considered and supported. Taking into account the different challenges and concerns users face, such as climate change and it’s effect on society.
DETAIL
HABITT
With initial research showing the impact that climate change can have on mental health, further research into both topics was undertaken. This in turn leading to the creation of Habitt, with previous findings suggesting that an increase in physical activities alongside mental health support would benefit users being the focal point of the app.
A colour palette of blues was chosen to invoke a sense of calm whilst keeping the appearance light and clear. This is modified for the Watch edition, with a darker theme to fit within the conventions of most Watch apps. SF Pro has been selected due to it’s legibility and strong app-friendly design, with SF Compact for Watch versions.
REASON
HABITT
Research indicates that 16-34 year olds are the age group who can make the biggest impact on climate change, which meant the medium of an app would connect well with the target user base. Furthermore providing ways to both better themselves and the environment was another goal of this target demographic and a key finding that Habitt aimed to achieve.
After gaining more insight into how creating positive habits can lead to change in someone’s personal life, the idea to also give users different ways to impact the planet at the same time came about. This should in-turn create a positive cycle for users; create a healthy habit in their personal life involving either themselves or additionally the planet, see or feel the benefits and then repeat.
DEMOGRAPHIC
HABITT
Produced using Adobe XD and Illustrator primarily, with help from other design programmes. Due to the short and concise nature of the word, Habitt was chosen as the brand name. This should not only be easy to remember but also convey the apps main functionality. The addition of a second T aims to represent the repetitive nature of a habit or activity too. With the brand mark combining a circular progress bar with a light and fluffy Earth icon, to symbolise Habitt’s purpose.
Alongside smartphone screen designs, additional watch face screens were produced. As Habitt strongly promotes creating healthy habits, some physical, it made sense to translate this app onto smartwatches. To increase convenience for users who are running, at the gym or undergoing a similar activity. This presented the opportunity to further Habitt’s real world use. Habitt Hope Run alongside running equipment was created, ensuring this was not just an app restricted to users screens but also had real world considerations, with designs for that too.
